Practice 04 · Special Projects

MIYAAR takes on a small number of design-intensive commissions each year — pavilions, restoration, adaptive reuse, cultural work and unusual technical challenges — where the problem justifies research, prototyping and a bespoke delivery strategy.

What makes a project a Special Project?

The problem, not the budget. When a commission needs genuine research, an unusual structural or material solution, prototyping before commitment, or a delivery method that does not yet exist, it is a Special Project. We take only a few each year so they receive the attention they require.

Do you restore old or ancestral houses?

Selectively. Restoration demands structural assessment, honest material archaeology and a clear philosophical position on what is preserved, what is replaced and what is deliberately new. We take it on where the building justifies that care and the client shares that patience.
